 Hip protectors are designed to minimize the risk of hip fracture in the frail and elderly. Cosmac Surgical has a range of such products to suit the needs of individual people according to their level of activity and mobility. The ‘SAFEHIP’ brand of hip protectors features flexible but strong protection shields, which are either sewn-in or removeable. These are available in both male and female styles. The ‘HIPSAVER’ range features soft visco-elastic pads. These are available in either a ‘slim-fit’ style for active people, or in styles more suitable for nursing-home use, or for those where continence care is an issue. The ‘HORNSBY COMFY HIPS’ brand is available in either male or female styles, and with either removeable or sewn-in pads. The pads are soft, and made of fabric- covered silicone. Another problem often encountered by the frail and elderly, is skin integrity. ‘PROTECT-A-LIMB’ is a moisture transporting, anti-friction tube for the arms and legs. These garments offer protection to the skin, and aid in the prevention of skin tears. Construction is a channeled synthetic fibre on the inner, and a cotton outer which is slightly retentive. |
