From time to time, we'll include in this section, news updates of our business operations, new products, or perhaps broader industry developments which may be of interest to our customers.

At this time, we would like to focus on four relatively 'new' developments:

1. DVA Rehabilitation Appliances Programme (RAP).

New arrangements for provision of rehabilitation products to the veteran community of Australia have now been in place for 12-18 months.

Cosmac Surgical is proud to be playing an important role in these new arrangements, by being exclusively sub-contracted to supply a large range of these products to veterans throughout NSW.

2. New Cosmac Retail Fitting Centres.

Cosmac Surgical has been expanding in the area of retail fitting and supply of products, and we now have 5 registered nurses providing this service at 4 fitting centres throughout Sydney. Most of the business conducted at these centres is by referral of doctors and other health professionals.

After many years in the Haymarket area of Sydney, some 3-4 years ago we moved our City fitting centre to St. Vincent's Private Hospital in Darlinghurst (incorporated in the St. Vincent's Private Hospital Pharmacy). This has been a most satisfactory move in every respect.

In Parramatta, we have had a long established fitting centre in Ross Street since 1994, and will soon be undertaking a major refurbishment of these premises.

We have recently opened a new retail fitting centre in Hornsby, initially operating for 3 days per week (appointments are necessary). We have entered into an arrangement with Sports, Spinal & Rehab Solutions in Hornsby to conduct this service in their modern, air-conditioned premises in Edgeworth-David Avenue.

We are also now conducting a fitting service at our Artarmon head office, and again, appointments are necessary.

3. Clinical Nutrition

Many Cosmac customers may not be aware of the company's association with Axcess Home Health Direct Pty. Ltd. Cosmac and Axcess are sibling companies. Cosmac is involved mainly in medical and surgical products, and Axcess specialises in the distribution of clinical nutrition products and accessories. Both of these companies have common ownership and senior management, and are headquartered at our modern, hi-tech offices at 76 Reserve Road, Artarmon (The North Shore Business Centre)

4. Super Large Medical Stockings

Having been involved in importing, fitting and supply of medical stockings for many years, we have noticed an increasing need for stockings for the 'larger' leg. In the past, the only option has been custom made stockings which take some time to make, and are also expensive.

To address this matter, we are pleased to advise that Cosmac Surgical is now Australian agent for the TRUFORM range of stockings, manufactured in the USA. These 20-30 and 30-40mmHg knee high stockings are available in off-the-shelf XL, XXL, and XXXL sizes. This range has been very favourably received by prescribers and users alike.
