Cosmac Surgical - Supplier to the Veteran Community in NSW

Background

RAP (Rehabilitation Appliances Programme) is an Australian Government program, administered by the Department of Veterans' Affairs, which provides a broad range of aids and appliances to eligible members of the veteran community to help them maintain their independence as they grow older.

There are several product groupings which come under RAP, one of which is the 'Mobility & Functional Support' (MFS) group.

New arrangements for the supply of MFS items, were finalized in late 2004.

In NSW, two organizations were appointed as contractors to DVA to supply MFS items:

Admed Hospital Supplies Pty. Ltd., (www.admed.com.au), and
Paraquad NSW (www.paraquad-nsw.asn.au)

Cosmac Surgical is proud to have been formally appointed as sub-contractor to both of these organizations for supply of an extensive range of MFS products to eligible veterans.

MFS items supplied by the two contractors are listed, (in the pdf, which can be downloaded at the top of the page) as are the specific products for which Cosmac Surgical is sub-contracted.

Ordering of MFS Products

A detailed listing of MFS products, who is authorized to order them, special conditions, and the forms to be used, can be found in the DVA website at: www.dva.gov.au/health/rap/rap_index.htm

Information can also be obtained by visiting the websites of the two contractors detailed above.

Orders for products in the MFS category should be directed by authorized prescribers, to either Admed or Paraquad.

However, for products sub-contracted to Cosmac Surgical, prescribers should feel free to contact Cosmac in the first instance to clarify specific product availability and suitability.

Pharmacies

Under the new arrangements, a number of MFS products are able to be supplied by pharmacies. For full details of such products, please refer to the 'Pharmacy Schedule' sent by DVA to pharmacies in Oct/Nov 2004, or phone DVA (RAP) on (02) 9213 7975.

Please note, that supply of certain products on the Pharmacy Schedule (in particular, Group AR - Orthoses, and other products in the AU Group), require the prior approval of Cosmac Surgical. These products are highlighted with a red asterix in the pdf (which can be downloaded at the top of the page).

Approval to supply these products can be obtained by faxing the prescription/order form to Cosmac, together with details of products to be supplied and proposed pricing. Cosmac will then contact you to authorize supply.
